I’ve found myself wanting to give a cute, useful, handmade crochet baby gift several times. Particularly for a neighbor or a close acquaintance. Try this cute idea! You can whip up a tiny shark amigurumi and pair it with a teether and a clever card for the cutest “I thought of you” gift!
Materials
- Two colors of worsted weight yarn (I chose white and a tan color to be gender neutral)
- Scissors
- Tapestry needle
- Black embroidery thread
Note: Although the pattern calls for safety eyes, those are not recommended for children under 3 years of age. So to make this crochet baby gift safe for an infant, I recommend embroidering the eyes as I did here.
Pattern
I chose to use Chum the Shark by Critterbeans. It’s very easy to follow and has very helpful in-progress pictures. It’s also received stellar reviews on Etsy!
Pair your Crochet Baby Shark Gift with a Teether
This would also be a very cute gift paired with a teether (get it? Shark bite?). My baby loved her Bella Tuno teether and the phrase on this one is on point.
Here are some other teether options:
- Sophie the Giraffe (she’s ubiquitous for a reason!)
- Nuby Teethe-eez (my daughter liked this one)
- Fish-shaped (on theme)
Printable Postcard to Give along with your Gift
And to complete the package here’s a quick printable to go with your crochet baby gift! Add a quick personal message, sign, and done!
Right-click below on the postcard you want to print (there’s a boy and a girl option!) and choose “Open Image in new Tab”. Then right-click again on the image and select “Save Image As…” and select a download location. From there, you can open the saved image in your computer’s image software and print the size you would like. I’d recommend cardstock for this.
🎵 It’s the end doo doo, doo doo doo doo. It’s the end! 🎵
